WHS Latin Club worked with elementary students at the St. Charles' School's after-school program.  They made pumpkins and apples, which they covered with Latin words relevant to autumn and Halloween.

The Winchester Latin Club is currently collecting books for Ready to Read. Please bring your donations to room B106! Updates on progress will be posted here soon!

St. Charles Outreach!

On December 6th, WHS Latin Club students and Ms. DeCamp made Christmas decorations and shared Latin holiday phrases with the students from the preschool and early grades who elect Latin Club on the first Wednesday of every month.

Classics Day

18 Latin Club students and Ms. DeCamp traveled to Boston University on December 7th for its annual Classics Day.  Students attended workshops of their choice, had a gala lunch and participated in a skit contest.  Their skit, “Friends Forever”, won the Ecce Award.

McCall Outreach

WHS Latin Club students continued working on their shield project at McCall Middle School on December 18th.

Gift Wrapping

Latin Club students and Ms. DeCamp wrapped gifts for 5 hours at Henry Bear’s Park in Brookline on Christmas Eve.  They raised 260.00 for “Reach Out and Read”, a project which starts families of babies and preschoolers on the road to childhood literacy.  This is the official community service project for JCL this year.

St. Charles Outreach

WHS Latin Club students and students in the St. Charles School in Woburn created snowflakes and decorated them with Latin “winter” vocabulary

State t-shirt contest

Vicky Chen created a t-shirt design which incorporated friendly rivals from the Aeneid and Moby Dick in keeping with this year’s theme of friendship as stated by Cicero.

Cards for Hospitalized Kids

WHS Latin Club students continue to make cards for all holidays and occasions to support “Cards for Hospitalized Kids”.

McCall Middle School Outreach

( January 12th)

WHS Latin Club students and Middle school students began to design a mythological board game together on January 12th.  They are looking forward to completing and playing it !

McCall Middle School, Winchester.  WHS Latin Club students worked on their joint project with middle-school students to make a large board game with a Classical theme on February 12th.

Latin Valentines

( February 14th)

St. Charles School, Woburn.  WHS Latin Club made Latin valentines with children in the after-school program on February 14th.

Student Teacher

Ms. Jiyoung Song works in B106 after school.  Ms. Song is earning her master’s degree in Classics at Tufts University and collaborating with Ms. DeCamp.  She will soon be a licensed Latin teacher! Below she is working with Latin 1 Students!

AP Latin students have one simile-drawing competition per quarter.  Winners get cherished Latin-adage or NLE pencils.

Card Making

Winchester High School Latin Club students made Easter cards which they sent to “Cards for Hospitalized Kids” as part of an ongoing community service project. Vicky Chen, Latin Club President, also shows her love for JCL with a card she made.
